If you love working outdoors, don't mind getting your hands dirty, and want to learn the ins and outs of a busy greenhouse and field operation, we’d love to have you join us.
Heritage Farms is looking for 20 motivated General Farm Labourers to join our team on-site in Staples, Ontario.
Good news for international applicants: We already have an approved LMIA, which means we are fully ready and happy to support foreign workers for these positions!
What We’re Looking For
You don't need a background in agriculture or a degree to apply. We care about your attitude, your energy, and your willingness to learn.
- Experience: None required! We are completely happy to train you from scratch.
- Language: Basic conversational English so you can follow safety directions and chat with the team.
- Education: No degree, certificate, or diploma needed.
- Physical Fit: Farming is hard, physical work. You'll need to be comfortable standing for long periods, bending, crouching, kneeling, and working in a fast-paced environment. Because we deal with greenhouse crops, the environment can get quite warm. You also need good hand-eye coordination and the ability to distinguish colors clearly to spot the best produce.
What Your Days Will Look Like
We focus on a combination of fruit and vegetable farming—with a heavy emphasis on tomatoes. On a typical week, you'll be helping us with:
- Harvesting & Crop Care: Hand-harvesting vegetables, cutting horticultural crops, cleaning the plants, and manually removing suckers or water sprouts to keep them growing strong.
- Plant Maintenance: Tying and securing plants as they grow.
- Quality Control: Sorting and grading our fruits and vegetables by size, shape, color, and volume so only the best produce hits the market.
- Farm Upkeep: Cleaning the greenhouses and leveling the earth to prepare the soil for planting.
π LMIA Status: Approved. The employer is authorized to hire foreign workers. Canadian citizens and permanent residents are also encouraged to apply.
