At Bonnie Plants, we’re gearing up for another great season, and we’re looking for 28 reliable Light Truck Drivers to join our Liverpool, Texas team!
If you love being on the open road, working hands-on, and making sure top-quality plants get to local markets safely, this is the perfect seasonal spot for you.
What a typical day looks like
- On the Road: You’ll drive 26' straight trucks (under 26,001 lbs GVW) to deliver our plants to retail partners within a 180-mile radius. Some days involve "shuttle driving"—meeting up with another driver to swap full and empty trucks.
- Keeping Trucks Safe: Before hitting the road, you’ll check tire pressure, fluids, and fuel, do minor fixes, and keep DOT logbooks accurate.
- Hands-on Work: You’ll be loading and unloading heavy rolling carts (100–460 lbs) using truck lift gates and docks, setting up display racks at retail spots, and organizing empty trays.
- Plant Quality Check: You’ll inspect our plants on the truck—watering them if they look thirsty, swapping out any that don't meet Bonnie's standards, and keeping everything looking fresh.
- Season Prep: Helping out with painting, building display racks before the season starts, and packing up when the season winds down.
Work schedule & rest safety
- Expect around 48 hours per week.
- Safety is our top priority. We strictly follow DOT rules: a mandatory 30-minute break before driving 8 hours, and a full 34-hour rest break after 70 hours worked in any 8-day rolling period.
- Extra hours on weekends or holidays are 100% voluntary—we never force extra shifts.
- If you have a valid driver’s license and pass a basic DOT physical, there may be extra opportunities to help transport crew members around for extra hours.
What we’re looking for
- Experience: At least 2 months of work history in a greenhouse or plant nursery.
- Age & Driving History: At least 21 years old with 3+ years of valid driving experience.
- Driver’s License: Any valid U.S. state driver's license, a U.S. CDL, or an acceptable international equivalent (a CDL is great, but not required).
- Language Skills: Functional English to read road signs, keep logs, and chat with highway officials or store managers.
- Physical Stamina: Able to roll heavy carts (up to 460 lbs) across uneven ground and outdoor areas.
- Drug & Alcohol Screening: A routine post-hire drug test is required (employer-paid; not part of your interview).
(Note: We ask all our drivers to operate company vehicles safely and legally. Any moving violations or traffic fines incurred while driving are the driver's responsibility.)
