Salary: AUD $68,865 per year + superannuation (depending on experience)

Location: Port Franklin, VIC, Australia

If you love being out on the water and don't mind a bit of hard work, we’ve got a spot for you. At K.B. & H.J. Fishing, we run a professional commercial fishing operation out of Port Franklin, and we’re looking for a reliable Deckhand to join the team full-time.

We’re a crew that cares about sustainable fishing and doing things the right way. It’s a high-pressure environment, but for the right person, it’s a great place to work.

What You’ll Be Doing

You won't be sitting around. As part of the crew, you’ll be right in the middle of the action:

• On the Deck: Handling the nets and managing the fishing gear.
• The Catch: Sorting, cleaning, and getting the catch into the ice bins quickly to keep the quality high.
• Maintenance: Helping us keep the boat in top shape—cleaning the vessel and checking safety gear.
• Docking: Handling ropes and mooring equipment whenever we’re berthing.

What You Need to Bring

Because this is a commercial vessel, we need someone who already knows the ropes. You’ll need:

• Real Experience: At least a year of recent, full-time work as a deckhand (we’ll need to see your signed sea-time logbook).
• Certifications: Valid STCW safety/rescue certificates.
• First Aid: A current First Aid certificate (done within the last year).
• For International Applicants: We can support the 482 visa, but you’ll need an IELTS score of 4.5 or better to qualify.
