Job Position: Nursery Workers Needed in AB, Canada For Foreigners - LMIA Approved
Vacancy: 9 vacancies
Company: Countryside Garden Centre
Salary: $15.42 to 19.40 hourly (To be negotiated) / 40 to 50 hours per week
Location: Foothills, AB, Canada
Looking for outdoor work where you can actually see the results of your hard work? We're a garden centre in Foothills, Alberta, and we need people who aren't afraid to get their hands dirty and work with plants all day.
What We Need From You
- Finished high school
- At least a year or two of doing this kind of work before
- You can speak and understand English well enough to get the job done
- A driver's license and your own ride (there's no bus service out here)
- Your own steel-toed boots for safety
The Actual Job
It's nursery work – you'll be doing a bit of everything. Some days you're planting seeds and transplanting seedlings. Other days you're watering, weeding, or mixing up soil and fertilizers. You'll help prune trees and shrubs, spray for bugs when needed, and keep the greenhouses clean and organized.
We'll also need you to operate some equipment – forklifts, tractors, chainsaws, irrigation systems, that kind of thing. Don't worry if you haven't used all of it before, but experience helps.
You'll work with all types of plants: trees (both evergreen and deciduous), perennials, berry bushes, ornamental shrubs, fruit trees, cut flowers – pretty much everything we grow here.
Oh, and you'll need to jot down quick daily notes about what got done. Nothing fancy, just keeping track of progress.
The Reality Check
Let's be honest – this job is physically demanding. You're outside all year round, which means working in the heat of summer and the cold of winter, sometimes in the rain or snow. You'll be lifting heavy stuff (up to 50 lbs), standing most of the day, and doing lots of bending and kneeling.
It's a busy place, so you need to keep up with the pace and handle doing the same tasks over and over. But if you pay attention to details and work well with your hands, you'll fit right in.
π LMIA Status: The employer’s LMIA has been approved. International applicants, as well as Canadian citizens and permanent residents, are encouraged to apply.
